The next meeting of the Turkmenistan-Latvia intergovernmental commission on economic, industrial, scientific and technical cooperation will be held in Riga, the Turkmen government said in a message.
During the meeting it is planned to discuss the opportunities of expanding the cooperation in transportation and communication sector, in the spheres of agriculture, construction, healthcare, as well as through the commerce and industry chambers and business structures of the two countries.
The sides will speak about the cooperation on the overland transit and logistics of common routes in order to develop effective and mutually beneficial solutions for cargo transshipment. The volume of bilateral trade between Turkmenistan and Latvia has been growing over the recent years.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s official visit to Latvia in September 2012 and the visit of the former Latvian President Andris Berzins to Turkmenistan in May 2013 gave an impetus to bilateral relations between the two countries. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
