Azerbaijan plans to increase the share of alternative and renewable energy sources in the country’s energy balance to 20% by 2020, Head of Azerbaijan’s State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Akim Badalov said.
He said that currently the share of alternative energy in Azerbaijan was 16%.
“By 2020, we plan to increase this figure to 20%”, Badalov said. “In addition, Azerbaijan intends to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 35% by 2030”.
He added that nearly 2 billion kilowatt/hours of energy was generated in Azerbaijan last year, thanks to the use of alternative and renewable energy sources. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
