The Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) transported some 229.5 million passengers through Azerbaijan’s territory in January-August 2016, up by 2.2 percent% YoY, Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee reported.
Meanwhile, some 33.24 million tons of cargo were transported via the TRACECA through Azerbaijan’s territory during the reporting period, down by 6.6% YoY.
Some 64.1% (21.3 million tons) of the total volume of the transported cargo accounted for vehicles, 26.9% (8.95 million tons) – for railway, 9% (2.99 million tons) – for maritime transport.
Moreover, some 14.6% (4.86 million tons) of cargo accounted for transit traffic.
TRACECA is an international cooperation program in the sphere of transport among the EU and partner-countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. The organization has a permanent secretariat in Baku.
TRACECA member-states are Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Ukraine and Iran. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
