The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft has signed an engineering and advisory services contract with Oil India, the press service of the Belarusian company reported.
Under the contract, Belorusneft will provide comprehensive technology-intensive services to rehabilitate the Digboi oil field, India’s oldest oil field. Industrial reserves of oil were discovered there back in 1889. As of now, the Digboi oil field has almost stopped producing oil.
All the technical details related to the implementation of the project were discussed during the visit of a delegation of Oil India top managers to Belorusneft. The project will be carried out in several stages. Belarusian specialists have already created a database with information about the oil field and the history of its exploitation. The database will be used to analyze the current status of Digboi and its development prospects. The next step will be to make geological and hydrodynamic models, draft recommendations and a program of action to increase oil production.
The specialists noted that it would be the first time Belorusneft tried to rehabilitate such an old oil field. The project will be a challenge for their professionalism. If successful, the pilot project will be a stepping stone for advancing bilateral cooperation.
The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in the surveying, prospecting and development of oil fields, well drilling, oil and associated petroleum gas extraction in Belarus and a number of other countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Ecuador.
