Last week weather conditions were favorable for ripening and harvesting of late spring crops.
Cornfield research in Dniepropetrovsk region showed that corn varieties of ultra-early, early-optimal and late sowing terms were 250-271 cm, 257-282 cm and 242-270 cm high, respectively. In the corn plants of all sowing terms grain in the head reached the stage of complete ripeness with optimal moisture values for harvesting works. Along with this, moisture content in varieties of the ultra-early sowing terms is 16.1-20.1%, early-optimal sowing terms – 17.2-21.5%, late – 20.1-25.6%.
Corn conditions of all varieties are estimated as satisfactory. According to field researches, corn productivity of ultra-early sowing terms will reach 5-6 MT/ha, early-optimal – 4-5 MT/ha, late – 3-4 MT/ha.
Farmers continue to prepare soil for winter sowing. So far nearly 6452.1 thousand ha have been prepared, 80% of the intended area. As a result of low amount of precipitation and low productive soil moisture stocks, winter sowing may start in the extreme conditions. (UkrAgroConsult/Business World Magazine)
