Public joint-stock company Ukrzaliznytsia intends to sign a contract to carry out construction works on over 300-km railway tracks with Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, the company’s press service reported, referring to Board Chairman Wojciech Balczun.
“We quickly worked with the agreement of the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine and Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran. We were authorized to sign the relevant contract, and this would be done soon”, he said.
Balczun said that the agreement was a milestone event, as along with earning additional funds it would help to improve the positive image of Ukrzaliznytsia that had ambitious plans to participate in construction of important international transport corridors.
“Around 100 employees of the Prydniprovsky regional branch of Ukrzaliznytsia would lay assembled rails and sleepers on 165 km of tracks, install 138 switch sets and lay continuous welded rail on 176 km”, he said.
He said that Iran was building 5,000 km of railways and intended to build 4,000 km more.
“We hope to receive our share of this market. It is important for the company to participate in the creation of the East-West caravan track on the territory of Iran”, he said. (Interfax/Business World Magazine)
