Belarus plans to increase exports of agricultural and food products to $7.5 billion by 2020, according to the program of socio-economic development of Belarus for 2016-2020.
In order to achieve the objective, it is envisaged to realize a number of measures aimed at ensuring the competitive advantages in the agricultural industry of the country. The industry will focus on strict observance of various technological requirements, ensuring production discipline, and efficient labour management, according to the document.
In particular, it is planned to increase production efficiency in the plant-growing segment, and bring the average yield of grain crops to 4.1 t/ha by 2020, which will provide grain production in the country to 10 million tons. Also, it is planned to increase the efficiency of livestock sector, which will increase its production rates by 18.3% compared with 2015.
In addition, the program provides for creation of favorable conditions for efficient production and sales of organic agricultural products in Belarus.
Realization of the planned measures will increase the profitability of sales in the agricultural sector from 2.4% in 2015 to 10% in 2020. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
