Idle water discharge was made at the Toktogul and Uch-Kurgan reservoirs, the expert Rasul Umbetaliev said.
According to him, Electric Stations JSC intentionally publish hydropower data of Toktogul HPP intermittently. Since August 1, consumption was 229 cubic meters per second, on August 3 – 211 cubic meters, and on August 8-9 it increased to 331 cubic meters per second. There is no information on water volumes on August 5, 6 and 7.
“It was August 5, when the Vice Prime Minister instructed to open the gates at the working power plants, so the water flow increased. During the summer, the station generates electricity for domestic consumption in the 20-22 million kilowatt-hours, using 140-160 cubic meters of water per second. Discharges are produced in order to provide irrigation water for farmland of southern regions of Kazakhstan”, Rasul Umbetaliev said. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
