Belarus’ foreign trade deficit totaled $148.7 million in January-June, compared to a $783.1 million surplus in January-June 2015, the National Bank of Belarus said.
The overall turnover of commodities and services in foreign trade shrank by 13.6% YoY, to $28.156 billion.
Exports of commodities and services dropped by 16.1% YoY, to $14.004 billion, and imports decreased by 11% to $14.153 billion.
According to the NBB, the deficit of foreign trade in goods totaled $1.139 billion in H1 2016 compared to a deficit of $397 million in January-June 2015.
Commodity exports (in FOB prices) decreased by 18.8% YoY, to $10.938 billion; imports were down by 13% to $12.078 billion.
Belarus ended up with a service trade surplus in January-June, which reached $990.5 million to compare with a $1.18 billion surplus in January-June 2015.
Export of services decreased by 4.6% YoY, to $3.066 billion, imports were up by 2.1% to $2.075 billion.
As previously reported, Belarus’ foreign trade surplus totaled $205.7 million in 2015. The overall turnover of commodities and services in foreign trade totaled $65.56 billion. Exports of commodities and services made up $32.883 billion, and imports made up $32.677 billion. Commodity exports (in FOB prices) reached $26.209 billion; imports made up $28.327 billion.
