FSUE “Rosmorport” and “MSC GROUP”, Italian holding company, discussed the “Construction of Sea Terminal in the City of Pionersky” project.
The meeting, held on July 19, in Genoa (Italy), was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation – Head of the Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport Viktor Olersky, Deputy Head of Rosmorrechflot Nadezhda Zhihareva, the FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrey Tarasenko, Deputy General Director for Capital Construction of FSUE “Rosmorport” Aleksey Nemkov, president of the Grandi Navi Veloci S.p.A. company (subsidiary structure of “MSC GROUP’) Roberto Martinoli and other officials.
Participants of the meeting discussed the parameters of cooperation in joint implementation of investment project on the construction phase and subsequent operation of terminal facilities, presentation and promotion of the constructed sea terminal in the international market of cruise traffic, as well as creating favorable conditions for development of marine tourism market in the Kaliningrad region.
The “Construction of Port Infrastructure in the seaport of Kaliningrad. International Sea Terminal for receiving of cruise and cargo, and passenger vessels in the city of Pionersky of the Kaliningrad region” project is implemented by FSUE “Rosmorport” within federal target program “Development of the Russian Transport System (2010-2020)”.
The main purpose of the construction of the terminal is to improve the transport accessibility of the Kaliningrad Region, the implementation of transit potential, expansion of tourist and recreational capacities of the region.
Within the project it is planned to construct berths to receive cruise and ferry vessels. The project envisages conducting bank protection works, construction of protective piers, berthing facilities, buildings, sea border crossing points and customs inspection, creation of artificial land plot, dredging and other works.
After project implementation the terminal will be able to handle up to 80 thousand trucks and receive 250 thousand passengers arriving on cruise vessels per year.
The cost of project implementation is 8,564.9 million rubles. The source of funding is federal budget funds provided by the federal target program “Development of the Russian Transport System (2010-2020)”.
Completion of construction and installation works and commissioning of the terminal is scheduled to be completed by June 1, 2018. (Portnews/Business World Magazine)
