According to preliminary data, agricultural households of all categories in Russia (agricultural organizations, farmers, population) planted grain crops and pulses for the harvest-2016 throughout the areas of 47.2 million ha, up by 0.6% YoYr, or up by 275 thousand ha, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported.
According to the announcement, the planted areas under sunflower seed totaled 7.5 million ha, sugar beet – 1.1 million ha.
In particular, the planted areas of wheat increased by 817 thousand ha compared with the last year results (up by 3%), sugar beet – up by 87 thousand ha (up by 8.5%), and sunflower seed – up by 518 thousand ha (up by 7.4%).
The major share of planted areas of grains and pulses is concentrated in agricultural organizations – 68%. But the share of such planted areas at peasant (farmer) households totaled 30.9%, Rosstat added. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
