The staff of Mailu-Suu electric-bulb plant is against the sale of the company to the Chinese side.
The plant is included in the list of objects of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy, which will be offered to China for the transfer of production capacity. Currently, the company produces more than 100 types of incandescent lamps.
“The main advantage of the plant is the reasonable prices for the products, their quality. We had problems with sales due to high competition from manufacturers of energy-saving lamps of the new generation”, the workers noted.
They added that the company purchased equipment for the production of energy-saving lamps, but their share is very small. “The enterprise is vital to the town, it is a budget-forming enterprise. Mailu-Suu is a home to more than 23,000 people, 2,700 of them work at the factory. We urge to send to the President and the Prime Minister the request to prevent its sale to the Chinese side”, the locals said. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
