Kyrgyzstan’s GDP fell by 2.3% in the first half of 2016, Deputy Chairman of the National Statistics Committee of KR Lyuksina Tekeeva reported today at a press conference.
According to her, since the beginning of the year, GDP amounted to slightly more than 176 billion soms. It decreased compared to 2015, although the drop is not significant. The decline in GDP is associated with a decrease in production in industry and transport.
“Without Kumtor, Kyrgyzstan’s GDP in January-June amounted to 1.2% and was formed in the amount of 163.7 billion soms. Industrial enterprises produced goods valued at nearly 79 billion soms, down by 19.5% YoY. Excluding enterprises developing the Kumtor production volume is estimated at 41.1 billion soms. It decreased in comparison with 2015 only by 3.4%. The decline is largely due to the reduction of the precious metal production, textile production, clothing and building materials”, Lyuksina Tekeeva said. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
