Azerbaijan will launch the construction of several pharmaceutical plants soon, Shahin Mustafayev, Azerbaijani minister of economy, reported.
Mustafayev added that at present, Azerbaijan was holding talks on the cooperation in field of pharmaceutics with a number of countries.
“The talks on joint medication production are being held with Iran, Turkey and a number of European countries”, he said. “Of course, the plants will produce different medications. We are carrying out various types of research to expand the list of these medications”.
As for the ground breaking ceremony of the pharmaceutical plant in Baku’s Pirallahi Industrial Park on November 2, Mustafayev stressed that it would be possible for Azerbaijan to greatly reduce dependence on import of medications due to the plant.
“The new plant will produce around 80 kinds of medications”, the minister said. “Around $74 million are planned to be invested in the plant. Azerbaijan will be able to produce high quality medications in two years”. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
