Zhitkovichikhimservis Company, which implements a pilot project to produce highly efficient organic fertilizers through advanced sapropel processing, has received modern equipment for sapropel processing.
The equipment transfer was facilitated in the framework of the Green Economy Project run by the European Union and the UNDP.
The equipment transferred during a special ceremony on October 20, included a shore discharge pipe, a floating discharge pipe, a loader and a booster.
Zhitkovichikhimservis currently uses a dredge ship purchased in 2014 at the company’s own expense for Br420,000 ($220,500).
Equipment for the modernization of extracting and transportation of sapropel will significantly increase the efficiency of production and reduce costs by 30%.
The project implementation will improve the environmental situation in the Lake Chervonoe as sapropel extraction helps to clean the lake that improves the quality of groundwater.
The money saved by the project will be spent on the purchase of modern complex for deep sapropel processing.
Belarus has been implementing 23 pilots in the EU-UNDP Green Economy Transition initiative with a total budget of 5.005 million euro. (Prime-TASS/Business World Magazine)
