Ukrainian retail chains operate stably and ensure uninterrupted supply of products, despite energy attacks from the enemy and difficult weather conditions. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky.
According to him, individual temporary closures of stores are exclusively sporadic and technical in nature. They are mainly associated with emergency power outages or short-term malfunctions in the operation of generators, in particular due to severe frosts. Such cases do not affect the general availability of goods and do not pose risks to consumers.
“The Ministry of Economy is in constant contact with all retail chains. Clear algorithms of actions in the event of a power outage, the procedure for informing customers and resuming store operations have been agreed in advance. Temporary closures are purely technical in nature. There are no problems with the supply of products, the consumer will not suffer. The networks are quite extensive, so even in the event of a temporary pause in the work of an individual store, there is always an available alternative,” Taras Vysotsky emphasized.
According to the Ministry of Economy, no surge in demand or shortage of goods has been recorded. Ukrainians, taking into account almost four years of war, are prepared, and all socially important products are systematically and on time delivered to retail outlets.
In addition to selling goods, retail chains are expanding the list of services for the population. In many supermarkets, visitors can recharge mobile devices, use stable communication, heat up food, or temporarily stay in a warm room. A significant part of the stores are equipped with alternative communication channels.
The Deputy Minister noted that working on backup power affected the costs of both manufacturers and retailers, but under current conditions this did not have a critical impact on final prices for consumers. The Ministry of Economy continues to monitor the situation daily and is in constant dialogue with retail chains and manufacturers to guarantee Ukrainians unhindered access to food and necessary services.
