Bulgaria will finance more development projects in the southern region of Moldova. A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed in Chisinau on December 20.
Ambassador of Bulgaria to Moldova Maya Dobreva welcomed the signing of the memorandum and urged the beneficiaries to turn to good account the opportunities of the projects due to be implemented.
Energy Minister Victor Parlicov said that the projects on grant regarded the fields of energy, environment, education and public information.
“Bulgaria will help us develop the southern region of the country, especially the cities and villages where preponderantly ethnic Bulgarians live, so that they feel the benefits of the integration into EU, where there is Bulgaria and where Moldova wends its way to,” Victor Parlicov said.
Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun said that the projects had the goal to improve the quality of education in Moldova’s southern region through the provision of essential technical equipment, including laptops and interactive tablets to schools, as well as the purchasing of buses for the carriage of pupils.
Thus, more schools will be endowed with school buses and educational equipment with the support of the Bulgarian government and the block 2 of the Taraclia University will be capitally renovated, with the reconstruction of the roof, replacement of windows and doors, renovation of the building’s facade and of base.
At the same time, more non-governmental organizations will receive financing for actions of afforestation of degraded grounds from Taraclia and informing residents about the European projects in the energy sector. The mayoralty of the Tvardita settlement will benefit from support for the creation of a Single Centre of Social Services. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
