Belarus’ food exports dropped by 11.2% YoY in January-June to $1.611 billion, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) reported.
The largest decline was registered in exports of the following foods: milk, cream powder, condensed cream – down by 12% to $218.5 million, sugar – down by 19.4% to $96.7 million, potatoes – down by 64.6% to $13.9 million. At the same time, exports of grain and other cereals grew 5 times to $14.2 million.
This includes an 11.2% decline in food exports to Russia to $1.487 billion. Russia accounted for 92.3% of Belarus’ food exports in H1 2016, up by 0.1% YoY.
Belarus’ food imports decreased by 14% in H1 to $1.543 billion, including a 4.7% decline in food imports from Russia to $316.6 million.
Belstat says Belarus’ consumer goods exports fell by 3.2% YoY in H1 to $2.592 billion; consumer goods imports dropped by 14.8% to $3.053 billion. (Prime-TASS/Business World Magazine)
