The European Investment Bank (BEI) will provide Moldova with an additional loan worth 100 million euros. The members of the parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration have approved a consultative note for starting negotiations and approving the signing of the contract on financing between Moldova and EIB for the supply and carrying out, in continuation, of the Moldova Roads III project.
Under the document, the need of providing the 100-million-euro loan resides in the context of the increase in prices for construction materials, caused by the current regional crisis. The money will be spent both to finish the works underway within the project and for the repair and construction of a network of national roads. It is about the: rehabilitation of the road R34 Hancesti-Leova-Cahul-Giurgiulesti, segment III, Cantemir-Cahul (km 82 – km 125) and M3 Chisinau-Comrat-Giurgiulesti-border with Romania, construction of the bypass road of the Cimislia town (km 0 – km 7).
All works will be carried out based on feasibility studies, which prove the objects’ economic efficiency, as well as of the project documentation, worked out in line with the normative acts in the field.
In 2013, Moldova signed a financing contract with the European Investment Bank, which saw the providing of a loan amounting to 150 million euros for the implementation of the Moldova Roads III project. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
