A total of 10.9 million GEL ($3.3 million or EUR 3 million) was spent on hotel service expenditures across Georgia between the pandemic outbreak and March 1 for using the spaces for quarantine
The information, provided by the Georgian National Tourism Administration, also showed up to 198,007 people were provided with hotel services before the use of hotels for the purpose was discontinued at the end of February.
The Georgian Government decided to use hotels as a quarantine space for people confirmed with Covid-19, and their confirmed contacts, to prevent further spread of the virus in the country starting from March 20, 2020.
On February 22, the Government decided to scrap the use of quarantine hotels, along with several other restrictions such as limitations on public events and gatherings, from March 1. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
