The State Tax Service is expanding its partnership with tax authorities of the EU countries. Memorandums of Cooperation with Lithuania and Latvia have been signed.
The memorandums of cooperation were signed by the Acting Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine Lesya Karnaukh, Director General of the State Revenue Service of Latvia Baiba Smite-Roke and Director General of the State Tax Inspectorate of Lithuania Edita Janusene within the framework of the meeting of the Directors General of Tax and Customs Administrations of the Baltic States.
“This is a new stage of our cooperation. Because we have quite long-standing professional contacts with our partners,” said Lesya Karnaukh.
Lithuania and Latvia have already gone through a difficult path of transforming their tax services in accordance with European standards. And they are ready to share this experience with Ukraine.
Tax authorities of the three countries will cooperate in a number of areas:
– Adaptation of tax legislation and administration to EU standards;
– Exchange of tax information and fight against the shadow economy;
– Development of modern services for taxpayers;
– Joint programs of training, advanced training and professional development of tax service employees;
– Exchange of practices on reducing tax losses, in particular the VAT gap.
The participants of the meeting of the Directors General of the Baltic countries discussed the current challenges that tax and customs administrations across Europe are currently facing. These include budgetary and organizational changes, the development of public services, digitalization, efforts to reduce the shadow economy and the impact of geopolitical events on tax administration and customs operations.
“This topic is of particular importance to us. Because despite the full-scale war, we continue to provide uninterrupted services to taxpayers and ensure revenue to the budget. I shared with our colleagues practical solutions that help the tax administration remain functional, flexible and resilient even in difficult conditions,” said the head of the State Tax Service.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the tax and customs authorities of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, as well as other high-ranking officials of the participating administrations. (State Tax Service)
