There have long been offers of cheaper than the gas currently sold to Armenian consumers, according to Khachatur Sukiasyan, a businessman and member of parliament from the ruling Civil Contract faction.
“Don’t worry, there have long been offers that are cheaper than the gas ultimately sold to consumers. I cannot provide details right now because this is not official information. I have been told by representatives of other countries that they are ready to supply gas to Armenia on more favorable terms,” he said.
Sukiasyan noted that he was not authorized to provide additional details and was only sharing information he had heard from his acquaintances.
“When speaking with me, my friends said, “We are ready”, and I can tell you it is not just one country,” Sukiasyan said.
In recent days, various Russian officials have stated that if Armenia continues moving toward the European Union, it could lose the opportunity to purchase Russian natural gas on preferential terms. (PanARMENIAN)
