In 2025, more than 486,000 cars were recalled from buyers in Russia for technical reasons. Compared to 2024, during which just over 139,000 vehicles were recalled, the number of cars with various factory defects increased by 3.5 times. This follows from the data of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology, which were analyzed by “Izvestia”.
In total, more than 452,000 passenger cars, 33,800 trucks and light commercial models, as well as nine semi-trailers were recalled. Approximately a quarter (121,500) of the vehicles lacked control units for the emergency call system (SVEOC). However, there were more serious reasons for the recall campaigns. In particular, about 33,500 Lada Granta cars were recalled for the diagnosis of “one of the functional units of the car in order to eliminate the risks of weakening its fastening element” (The Moscow Times).
