Dutch Foreign Minister David van Weel said that Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure were leaving millions of civilians without electricity and heat and posing serious risks to nuclear safety.
He wrote about this on social media X after discussing the situation with IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi.
“Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure leave millions of civilians in the severe cold. The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, and I shared concerns and discussed its serious impact on Ukraine’s nuclear power plants and nuclear safety. The Netherlands firmly supports the work of the IAEA,” the post says.
Van Veel recalled that the Netherlands had recently announced an additional EUR 2 million in support of IAEA missions to ensure nuclear safety in Ukraine.
According to the foreign minister, the interlocutors also discussed the latest developments regarding Iran’s nuclear activities.
“It is extremely important to resume full inspections at all facilities,” he added. (Ukrinform)
