The formation of a new energy architecture in Ukraine is necessary both during the war and after its end.
This was stated by the mayor Igor Terekhov on January 7.
The mayor emphasized that the issue of energy security was one of the key issues for the national security of the state. Thus, back in 2022, he proposed changing the approach to the functioning of the country’s energy system, but today this need had become critical.
“If there is no energy, then there is nothing. We understand this like no one else, because Kharkiv has experienced blackouts several times. And it will only get harder. According to preliminary conclusions, the International Monetary Fund estimates the losses of Ukraine’s energy sector at $56.5 billion,” Igor Terekhov said.
The mayor also stressed the need to place energy facilities underground to make them impossible to damage. At the same time, he noted that even large defensive structures were not always able to withstand the blows of modern missiles, so the state should take this into account for the future.
In addition, Igor Terekhov paid attention to the issue of switching to alternative energy, in particular solar and wind generation, as well as the introduction of mini-nuclear energy. According to him, these are the latest technologies that allow providing cheap and stable energy.
“If we want to quickly restore the economy of Ukraine and attract investors, we need affordable energy. Mini-nuclear installations also have a social aspect. With them, we will be able to set lower tariffs for the population and export energy,” the mayor emphasized. (Kharkiv City Council)
