Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Taras Kachka met with a delegation from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The delegation was led by Yuko Yasunaga, Deputy to the Director General and the Managing Director of the Directorate of Corporate Services and Operations. It also included Stephan Sicars, UNIDO Senior Coordinator for Ukraine, Solomiya Omelyan, Chief of the Regional Bureau for Europe and Central Asia, and other representatives of the organisation.
The parties discussed further strengthening cooperation in industrial policy and green reconstruction in the context of Ukraine’s integration into the European economic space.
In response to the war, UNIDO and the Government of Ukraine jointly launched the Green Industrial Recovery Programme for Ukraine (2024-2028), aimed at accelerating Ukraine’s transition to a sustainable, green, and inclusive industry.
The programme focuses on three main areas: creating opportunities for people, supporting businesses and attracting investments, and promoting the development of a green economy. Yuko Yasunaga informed that, as of September 2025, UNIDO is implementing 13 projects in Ukraine with a total budget exceeding $ 210 million, supported by Japan, Austria, Bulgaria, Czechia, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, the EU, and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that the current challenges caused by the war do not diminish but rather highlight the need for a transition to green and technologically advanced production models.
“Today, industrial modernisation is not only an economic but also a political task. We aim for Ukraine’s industry to become a full part of the European green transition and to align with the EU’s climate goals,” stressed Taras Kachka.
Separately, the participants discussed the development of public-private partnerships to attract investment in industry and infrastructure.
The parties agreed to strengthen coordination between the Government of Ukraine, Ukrainian businesses, UNIDO, the EU, and international financial institutions to support innovation, investment, and technological modernisation of Ukrainian industry. (Government portal)
