Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Denys Bashlyk met with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to discuss future cooperation plans.
Denys Bashlyk thanked the Japanese side for their active technical, financial, and resource support to Ukraine and outlined the work of the newly formed ministry and the key needs of the agricultural sector.
“The major transformation at the ministerial level will bolster our economic standing and promote the development of the agricultural sector,” Denys Bashlyk emphasised.
The parties explored potential areas for further cooperation, including implementing grants for the urgent recovery of Ukraine’s agricultural sector, completing the transfer of equipment funded by grant aid and launching a new Project on Promotion of Small-Scale Horticultural Agriculture: Enhancing Inclusiveness of Women Farmers.
The Deputy Minister highlighted that this project was a crucial step towards improving economic opportunities for women, veterans, and internally displaced persons in agriculture, creating conditions for their active involvement in agricultural production.
JICA representatives updated on the implementation of two phases of emergency support for Ukraine’s agricultural sector and shared details about new plans and research being conducted in agriculture. (Government portal)
