In the second quarter of 2025, there was an increase in the income and expenses of Bulgarian households. The average total income per person was 3,620 leva (1,850 euros), up by 12.6% YoY. The largest share of income comes from wages (58.3%), according to data from the National Statistical Institute (NIS).
Total expenses increased by 11.7%, to 3,157 leva (1,614 euros) per person. Most of the funds are spent on food and soft drinks (30.1%), up by 0.6%. There is an increase in the consumption of vegetables, meat and fruit, while the consumption of feta cheese and vegetable oil is decreasing.
Healthcare expenditure has decreased – from 181 leva (92 euros) to 167 leva (85 euros), which is 7.9% less, while spending on leisure, culture and education has increased – from 170 leva (87 euros) to 204 leva (104 euros), i.e. by 19.8%. (Novinite)
