The Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the World Bank’s Managing Director of Operations Anna Bjerde discussed the implementation of joint projects, launching new initiatives and attracting funding next year. The meeting took place in Washington, DC.
The Head of the Ukrainian Government emphasized that the Ukraine Relief, Recovery, Reconstruction and Reform Trust Fund (URTF), established by the World Bank, had already mobilized almost $2 billion for the implementation of important projects in the areas of transport infrastructure (RELINC), energy (Re-Power), healthcare (Heal Ukraine), agriculture (ARISE) and housing recovery (HOPE).
In addition, according to Denys Shmyhal, joint projects with the World Bank have been launched to continue reforms in the financial sector (SURGE), education (LEARN), healthcare (THRIVE) and private sector development (RISE). He also said that on April 4, a new initiative (DRIVE) was launched to minimize the negative impact of damaged or destroyed transport infrastructure.
“In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the World Bank has raised $51 billion in financial assistance for Ukraine. Of these, $30.7 billion are non-repayable grants. We are grateful to our partners for the extraordinary level of support,” the Prime Minister said. (Government portal)
