Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Minister for Finance of Denmark Nicolai Wammen discussed financial support, strengthening of bilateral trade and implementation of joint projects.
The Head of the Ukrainian Government stressed that Denmark remained one of Ukraine’s key partners, having provided EUR 8.3 billion in financial assistance during the full-scale war.
Denys Shmyhal also noted the success of the Danish model of financing the Ukrainian defence industry.
“This initiative has demonstrated high efficiency. We look forward to a possible expansion of funding in the future,” he stressed.
The Prime Minister also emphasised the importance of Denmark’s participation in the Ukraine Donor Platform. According to him, there is a plan to cover the budget needs for 2025 and work has begun on securing support for 2026.
“The main needs include raising funds for reconstruction. We are grateful to Denmark for its patronage of Mykolaiv region. At the same time, the confiscated frozen russian assets should become the main source of Ukraine’s reconstruction. We expect support for this initiative from our partners, as well as further sanctions pressure on russia,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The meeting also focused on Ukraine’s integration into the European Union. The Prime Minister stressed that Ukraine looked forward to fruitful cooperation on this issue during Denmark’s presidency of the EU Council. (Government portal)
