Frankenburg, a European defence tech company founded in Estonia last year, is expanding its operations to Lithuania and has appointed Karolis Zemaitis, a former deputy economy minister, as the managing director of the local unit.
“Frankenburg will open an office in Lithuania to expand the development and manufacturing of affordable missiles. This move establishes Frankenburg as a true Baltic defence tech company,” the company posted on LinkedIn.
Zemaitis will be responsible for technology development, recruitment, and production expansion.
“Lithuania has already established itself as a stronghold of innovation and industrial development. Now is the time to unite our efforts and accelerate the defence tech ecosystem,” the former vice-minister was quoted in the statement.
According to Frankenburg, Zemaitis was chosen because he “played a key role in reforming Lithuania’s defence industry and FDI legislation, attracting major investments like Rheinmetall”.
Founded in 2024, Frankenburg develops affordable mass-production missiles and is already operating in Estonia, Latvia and Ukraine. In addition to Lithuania, the company plans to expand to the United Kingdom. It has not yet been registered in Lithuania, according to data from the Centre of Registers. (LRT)
