During the World Economic Forum in Davos First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko and European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos discussed further support for Ukraine and the integration of its economy into the EU.
This is the first meeting of the First Deputy Prime Minister with the newly appointed European Commissioner. The parties discussed, among other things, progress in implementing the Ukraine Facility indicators.
“Ukraine Facility is one of the key programmes for the recovery of our country. This programme provides us with stability and predictability, allowing us to implement reforms, rebuild what was destroyed by the war and strengthen institutions. The expected EUR 12.5 billion in 2025 under the Ukraine Facility will play an important role in the long-term recovery,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
The First Deputy Prime Minister noted the leadership of Marta Kos in establishing closer cooperation between the European Union and Ukraine. According to her, the scope of tasks and work for the European Commissioner for Enlargement is extremely large today – from supporting the process of Ukraine’s European integration to the implementation of the Ukraine Facility and the Ukraine Investment Framework to attract investment. Yuliia Svyrydenko expressed her belief that the efforts of the parties would help to effectively address the entire range of issues related to Ukraine’s European integration and recovery.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed how to make the most of the Ukraine Investment Framework, an instrument for attracting investments amounting to EUR 9.3 billion. Ukraine anticipates that the European Commission will announce additional funding programs worth EUR 3 billion for public sector projects this year. Furthermore, it is hoped that direct financing initiatives for the corporate sector and private equity investments will be launched with the involvement of private equity funds. The discussion also included how to involve a broader range of private companies in utilizing the Ukraine Investment Framework funds for recovery projects in Ukraine. (Government portal)
