After a wave of massive russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities in recent months, the situation in the energy system is quite difficult. This was announced by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko.
“Today, we are talking about losses of more than a billion dollars. But the attacks continue, and it is obvious that the losses will grow,” he said.
The minister stressed that the main damage as a result of the massive attacks was caused to thermal and hydroelectric generation facilities, as well as electricity transmission systems. At the same time, there are daily attacks on various types of energy facilities with drones, ballistic missiles or artillery.
“The system is stable today, but the situation is quite complicated,” said the minister, adding that favourable weather conditions were helping to balance the power system with renewable energy.
At the same time, there are power supply restrictions in some regions, including Kharkiv, which is subject to daily hostile shelling. Work is underway in the region to stabilise the situation and prepare for the autumn and winter period.
International partners are helping to carry out restoration and repair work and increase the capacity of the peaking generation. (Government portal)
