The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide financial support for the modernization of the railway infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova. Members of the Economy, Budget and Finance Parliamentary Committee on October 18 approved the report for the draft law that provides for the ratification of a loan agreement.
The EBRD will offer the Republic of Moldova a loan worth 23 million euros, granted in two installments. Our country will also benefit from a grant of 20 million euros, offered by the European Commission. The money will be used for the repair works of the railway corridor Valcinet – Ocnita – Balti – Ungheni – Chisinau – Cainari.
The loan will be granted for a term of 15 years. The ratification of the Loan Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development signed in Chisinau on June 27 will be proposed for examination in the plenary session of the Parliament.
