Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development led by Matteo Patrone, EBRD Managing Director for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. The parties discussed projects to restore Ukraine’s energy sector, in particular the nuclear, hydropower and oil and gas industries.
The Head of the Ministry of Energy briefed his counterparts on the current state of the energy system and the ongoing repairs to restore energy infrastructure facilities damaged by russian attacks.
German Galushchenko stressed that a large-scale repair campaign was currently underway at energy facilities in preparation for the next heating season, which could take place in a rather difficult security environment.
The minister also highlighted the reforms being implemented by the Government to stabilise and liberalise the electricity market, as well as the measures being taken to bring Ukrainian energy legislation in line with European standards.
German Galushchenko thanked the EBRD for its continued support to Ukraine’s energy sector. The parties discussed the implementation of a number of projects in the energy sector. In particular, the special capital support project for NPC Ukrenergo, the project to support energy security and decarbonisation of the gas sector for NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy and the project for the emergency restoration of hydropower plants of PJSC Ukrhydroenergo.
The parties paid special attention to the cooperation projects with NNEGC Energoatom aimed at ensuring nuclear safety and further development of the industry. (Government portal/Business World Magazine)
