During a meeting in Kyiv, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, Vice-Chancellor, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany Robert Habeck and representatives of German business discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, strengthening of comprehensive support for Ukraine and intensification of economic activity.
Denys Shmyhal thanked Robert Habeck for his visit to Ukraine, in particular for examining the consequences of the russian occupation in the liberated territories of Chernihiv region.
The Head of Ukrainian Government noted the role of Germany in strengthening the defence capability of Ukraine and in the future post-war recovery. Denys Shmyhal stressed the importance of humanitarian demining and war risk insurance for business, which would help boost economic activity in Ukraine.
“War risk insurance for business is a critical issue. We already have a pilot project with MIGA and the first projects with the American company DFC. It is very important for us to find a similar instrument with Germany,” the Head of Ukrainian Government noted.
Representatives of German business noted that Ukraine had made a great step in decentralisation and in many other areas, and they wanted to expand their production and presence in the Ukrainian market.
According to Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine has potential in the areas of critical raw materials, processing and military-tech, which can bring many benefits and prospects for business.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine also thanked Germany for its financial support and sanctions pressure on russia. He stressed that the time had come to work on the next package, which would include sanctions against russia’s nuclear industry and technologies. (Government portal/Business World Magazine)
