The Moldovan-Romanian working group for energy sector, made up both of decision-makers from ministries and the managers of the principal competent enterprises, will be reactivated. A decision to this effect was announced following a discussion between Moldova’s Energy Minister Victor Parlicov and his Romanian counterpart Virgil-Daniel Popescu in Chisinau.
According to the Energy Ministry, the two officials tackled the evolution of the projects on energy interconnection, especially the initiative on the construction of the high-tension line Balti-Suceava of 400 KV. The officials also considered projects on cooperation between the energy enterprises from the two countries.
“Romania has had an essential contribution to ensuring Moldova’s energy security. We have received electric energy from Romania to cover the consumption needed, crude oil as alternative fuel for the centralized heating system, firewood for citizens from the rural environment and also it was in Romania where we stocked natural gas,” Victor Parlicov said.
