The present stage of the projects financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), as well as new aspects of cooperation have been considered at a meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and EBRD Managing Director for Eastern Europe and Caucasus Matteo Patrone and Head of the EBRD Office in Moldova Angela Sax, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The interlocutors referred to the projects under implementation in the fields of infrastructure, energy, transport and waste management. Also, the officials discussed possibility to introduce new instruments of financing, in order to develop small and medium-sized businesses and enhance the investment attractiveness of Moldova.
PM Dorin Recean said that the economic development, backing of the small- and medium-sized enterprises, ensuring of the national security were the principal priorities of the present Cabinet. In the context, the EBRD officials reiterated the support of the bank for the transformations necessary in the process of Moldova’s modernization.
The authorities’ priorities in dialogue with EBRD remain: the energy security, promotion of the sustainable economy, development of a competitive private sector and friendly to inclusion, of a more resistant financial infrastructure and of an improved governance, in order to support the connectivity with the commerce.
Presently, Moldova has signed with EBRD 58 projects in the financial and banking, infrastructure, energy, agriculture sectors, with more than 500 million euros invested in Moldova in 2022. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
