Seventeen units of insignificant amounts of individual state aid were issued in Georgia in 2022 for a total amount exceeding GEL 30 million ($11.63 million), the National Competition Agency of Georgia announced on March 14.
The body made the report as part of its annual statistical update on the types of aid that involved granting of “selective economic advantage” to economic agents through transfer of budget funds, state resources or other benefits.
Batumi City Hall in the region of Adjara remained the largest provider of individual state aids, followed by its counterparts in the western city of Ozurgeti and Rustavi in the southeast of the country.
The main part of the assistance was provided in financial aid, releases from breaches of contract and transfers of operating assets, the agency added.
The category of state aid involves volumes under GEL 400,00 ($155,059) for a total of three consecutive fiscal years. For the sector of land-based cargo transportation, the aid is qualified under GEL 200,000 ($77,529). (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
