About 1.28 million Georgian citizens aged 15 and above made 1.47 million monthly visits within the country in the third quarter of 2022 and spent GEL 346.3 million (about $130.44 million), the latest data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia showed.
The figures showed the monthly average number of visitors decreased by 6.7% YoY, while the monthly average expenditures increased by 15.5%, Geostat said.
In Q3, the monthly average number of domestic tourist visits by Georgian residents amounted to 774,700, up by 4.8%.
The majority of the visitors (39%) were residents of capital Tbilisi, followed by the Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions (13.7%) and the Kvemo Kartli region (10.7%), “while the rest of the regions are represented by a lower share in the structure”, Geostat said.
The majority of the visits fell on Tbilisi (average 301,600 visits per month) and Imereti region (245,900 visits per month).
People aged 31-50 were among the most avid domestic travelers (37.2%), while 55.4% of visits were made by women, Geostat said. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
