Lithuania could serve as a gateway to Europe for green hydrogen, Environment Minister Simonas Gentvilas has said.
“Our country happens to be a part of the EU-supported hydrogen supply corridor. Lithuania’s infrastructure – the port of Klaipeda with its LNG import terminal and the gas interconnection with Poland – would allow us to reach the largest European importers,” he said at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Egypt.
The minister invited, on behalf of Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Oceania to cooperate in developing the production, trade and use of green hydrogen.
According to the minister, green hydrogen is one of the most promising new energy technologies and its wider use in energy, industry and transport would contribute to the process of decarbonisation. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
