After a break of 24 years, the Chisinau-Kyiv international passenger train, called the Peace Train, resumed its activity n November 6.
According to the director of Moldova Railway, Oleg Tofilat, the relaunch of the Chisinau-Kyiv route is an important stage of regional interconnection.
“This train will provide good connections with the airport, we intend to simplify the logistics to the airport, to Iasi and to Bucharest. We have big plans for the development of passenger transport – safe and comfortable transport. We live in times when we can achieve things that seemed impossible a year ago. I am sure that after the victory of our brothers in Ukraine, we will resume traffic to Odesa and other cities,” he said.
Attending the event, Ambassador of Ukraine to Chisinau Marko Shevchenko appreciated the Moldovan-Ukrainian bilateral cooperation.
“This route will ensure the access of Ukrainian citizens to Europe. This train is the train to victory, each car represents a temporarily occupied region. One is dedicated to the already liberated Kharkiv region, and I am sure that this train will indeed become the train of victory. It is also a symbol of our partnership, we are happy that you are with us. Our good-neighborly relationship has turned into one of brotherhood,” Shevchenko said.
The train on the route Chisinau-Kyiv will run three times a week according to the schedule.
