A batch of medical equipment, reagents and consumables donated by Japan were sent to the Ministry of Health on November 1.
Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco and Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Yoshihiro Katayama were present at the equipment handover event.
Nemerenco thanked the Japanese side for the support during the last years saying that the equipment would help strengthen the health system and especially the laboratories managed by the National Public Health Agency.
The Japanese official said that the equipment was selected under the conclusions announced by three teams of Japanese experts, who examined the needs of the healthcare system in the Republic of Moldova in recent months. He reiterated that five large hospitals in the country would receive high-performance equipment purchased based on the agreement signed between the Republic of Moldova and Japan.
High-performance equipment will be purchased for the Institute of Emergency Medicine, the Timofei Mosneaga Republican Clinical Hospital, the Mother and Child Institute, the Oncological Institute and the Sfanta Treime Municipal Clinical Hospital from Japan’s money, 1 billion yen (about 8 million euros).
