Poland may become the strongest link of global supply chains that have been disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic and war in Ukraine, Mateusz Morawiecki, the Polish prime minister, has said.
Supply problems resulting from Covid-19 lockdowns and the war in Ukraine have been stifling the reviving global growth as economies are facing shortages of components, materials and commodities.
But according to Morawiecki, this creates an opportunity for the Polish economy.
“Poland may be the strongest link in the supply chains that are just being rebuilt,” the prime minister said in Pruszkow near Warsaw on May 25. “I have talked about it in Davos”.
Morawiecki said the Polish economy had remained strong throughout the pandemic thanks to government support.
“All of this makes our system resilient, more resilient compared to many other countries whose state of economy I had the opportunity to observe in Davos,” he said.
“I can see Polish businesses are ready for this difficult time that we’re facing,” he said.
“Poland doesn’t want to be only a subcontractor,” he continued. “If we don’t want to be an assembler of other people’s projects, we have to create our own solutions.” (The First News/Business World Magazine)
