Around 102,000 Ukrainian citizens have found employment in Poland since February 24, when Russia invaded their country, the daily Rzeczpospolita wrote on May 5 citing the Labour Ministry’s data.
Under the Polish government’s special law passed in early March, Ukrainian citizens can take up work in Poland without the need to obtain a special permit.
“The removal of the work permit requirement significantly reduced bureaucracy and gave refugees full access to the labour market in Poland,” the newspaper wrote.
But about half of them are doing simple jobs.
“Only 17.7% have been employed as office workers, specialists or technicians. The remaining have found jobs in services and industry,” according to Rzeczpospolita.
This results directly from the fact that 75% of the employed are women, mostly unqualified and without knowledge of the Polish language, the daily wrote. (The First News/Business World Magazine)
