NNEGC Energoatom and the U.S.-based Westinghouse continue their joint work on the project of construction of new AR-1000 power units at Ukrainian NPPs, by Energoatom CEO Petro Kotin has said commenting on the prospects of nuclear energy in Ukraine.
“We have signed really high-level documents with the American side, Westinghouse, on the construction of our five power units, and we are continuing this work. We will build five power units under the AR-1000 project,” he said.
Kotin clarified that the plan was to build two power units at the Khmelnitsky NPP, as well as one each at other NPPs.
“This is a modern Westinghouse project with a much higher level of security than the Soviet-designed power units we have today. And, of course, it’s many times better than the ones that Russia is currently building,” the NNEGC CEO added. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
