On February 28, the Lithuanian government is set to approve medical and military assistance to Ukraine, worth around 4 million euros, to fight the ongoing Russian invasion.
The support will come from the state reserve and the health ministry reserve. It will include medication, facemasks, surgical kits, bandages, surgery gowns, various kits to stop bleeding and treat bone fractures, as well as burn wounds.
The assistance is being prepared in response to Ukraine’s requests, Lithuanian Health Minister Arunas Dulkys said last week.
“We need some 30 trucks, and we are ready to provide assistance of this scope,” the minister said, adding that the government would allocate around 4 million euros for that.
Ministers will also discuss additional assistance in the form of weaponry, but specific capabilities are not disclosed due to security reasons.
Previously, Lithuania sent Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems and ammunition to Ukraine.
In addition, the Lithuanian society on February 27 donated 50 trucks of the necessary items, such as warm clothing and bedding, to be sent to Ukraine. They have also donated over 5 million euros to the organization Blue/Yellow, which helps the Ukrainian military. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
