Georgian external trade turnover amounted to $1.1 billion in January, up by 41.1% YoY, latest data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) showed.
The value of exports grew by 47.6% and equaled $331.3 million in the period, while imports also increased by 38.5%, reaching $778.1 million.
Trade deficit, a measure of the negative balance of trade in which imports exceed exports, totaled $446.7 million, and the share in trade turnover added up to 40.3%.
In 2021, Georgia’s exports amounted to $4.24 billion, while imports reached $10 billion. The total turnover was $14.31 billion, while the trade deficit was observed at $5.83 billion. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
