The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Eduard Heger discussed topical issues of bilateral relations. The meeting took place on October 13 as part of a working visit to Malmo, Kingdom of Sweden.
Denys Shmyhal noted that Ukraine highly appreciated the support provided by Slovakia in terms of the protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“We are counting on Slovakia’s support in counteracting the Nord Stream-2 operator in its efforts to circumvent the standard requirements of European Union certification,” said the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
The parties also considered issues of gas transportation, development of electricity and hydropower, renewable energy sources, etc.
Moreover, Denys Shmyhal emphasized that Ukraine looked forward to holding the 5th meeting of the Ukrainian-Slovak Joint Commission on Economic, Industrial and Scientific-Technical Cooperation and other intergovernmental commissions until the end of the year, as it would provide new incentives to ramp up partnerships.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine also thanked Slovakia for providing humanitarian assistance to overcome the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, including EUR 600 thousand for the purchase of vaccines and protective equipment, as well as EUR 195 thousand for the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital.
The parties agreed to hold the next meeting in the near future in Uzhgorod. (Government portal/Business World Magazine)
