At the end of April, the level of registered unemployment in Latvia was 7.9% of the economically active population, down by 0.3% MoM, according to information from the State Employment agency (NVA).
At the end of April, there were 71,376 unemployed people registered with NVA, down by 2,856 people.
The unemployment level declined the sharpest in Kurzeme – by 0.6%. Unemployment level there was 8.1% of the economically active population. In Zemgale unemployment dropped by 0.5% with unemployment at 7.5%.
The drop in Riga was minimal – 0.1%. Unemployment there was 6%.
Unemployment level was the highest in Latgale – 16.2%, down by 0.3%.
The registered unemployment level declined by 0.3% in April, to 7.8% of economically active population. In Riga, the registered unemployment level was 6%, down by 0.2%.
At the end of 2020, the registered unemployment level in Latvia was 7.7% of the economically active population. Last year unemployment in Latvia was the highest in June – 8.6%. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
